Baby Care

Post Pregnancy Illustration

For the first few months after birth, a baby feeds solely on milk. During this time your baby will cry for milk every 2 to 4 hours. The baby will usually fall asleep again after drinking breast milk and will sleep for two-thirds of the day. Don't worry about the number of feeds during this time; just give your baby as many feeds as he needs whenever he needs them.

Feeding

During this period, your baby has a small stomach and the babies generally breastfeed after every three hours or around 8 times a day. You’re both learning so there is no set number of feeds. Just try to feed the baby as much as he can or wants it.

Development and Growth

The babies wake up and cry for milk every 2-3 hours during the first month. Babies spend about two-thirds of their time sleeping. Your baby can see up to 40cm distance and he can hear you speak to your baby softly and look at him gently while feeding.

Caring for the baby

This is the stage where babies soil their diapers more frequently so make sure you change them regularly. Be sure to check the color and softness of the baby’s stool because it is a good indicator of the baby’s health.
